“As your National President, I am often called upon to offer my thoughts related to certain issues or programs we are involved with. Typically, I sit down at the computer and write, and it is a fairly straightforward process. But, for some reason, I have struggled getting my thoughts on paper to all of you. Hazing is a challenging and disturbing topic. I know at this point, some of you are reading this and thinking “Here go “nationals” again…..and our National President is preaching to us, once again, on hazing.”

But here’s the deal……we have a problem and we need to fix it. NOW!” For more thoughts from Kaye on how we can eliminate hazing, click inside:

“To say UIFI was an inspiration would be an understatement. The people I met there reestablished my faith in humanity, and the overall experience reinforced the direction of my life, as well as the pursuit of my dreams. UIFI is not simply a leadership institute, it is a wake up call. It reminded me of who I am and who I want to be, and forced me to realize that both of those things are in my hands and are based on my actions.”

“Those five days in Indiana were the most enlightening days of my life. I will forever be grateful, honored, and humbled by the experience. Never have I been surrounded by so many people with so much passion and wisdom. Any doubt, any frustration, any uncertainty about my chapter suddenly vanished from my mind, and I became overwhelmed with pride and love for not only Tri Sigma, but all of my Greek brothers and sisters across the world. I can honestly say I have never been more proud to wear these three letters across my chest, and never more committed to what they stand for. ”

“I felt like I was at a bit of an advantage going into Labyrinth since I had started out on the programming team committee that was working on it. I knew it was going to be amazing, but I never expected it to impact me the way it did. As I started volunteering as an alumna, I came to understand our ritual intellectually. I understood what our values are and what they mean. Really, how hard is it to understand wisdom, power, faith, hope and love?” Find Emmy’s answer to that question by clicking inside!

We’re hearing how women were changed by the Labyrinth, and we are so amazed at how the experience changed perceptions. Self perceptions, perceptions of the world and our culture, and perceptions of the National Sorority were impacted for the better. Danielle Kloap – Epsilon Beta, University of Arkansas – Montecello, had some incredibly meaningful realizations while on her journey. To learn more, click inside.

Prior to starting the Labyrinth Leadership Experience, the participants gathered together virtually through a Facebook group! One of the first comments made on that group related to the feeling amongst the participants that they were pioneers. One quote was, “I feel like we are the first Sigmas going to the moon!” Let’s hear more from Katie Johnstone, Epsilon Eta, on the impact of the Labyrinth on her pioneer spirit.
